SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS
Following the first Workshop held in Donostia-San Sebastian last year,
the MEANING project (Developing Multilingual Web-Scale Language
Resources - http://www.lsi.upc.es/~nlp/meaning/meaning.html) is now
organizing a second workshop for the 3 and 4 February 2005, to be held
at ITC-irst in Trento, Italy.
The workshop will provide an excellent opportunity to bring together
major experts in the fields of Natural Language Processing to discuss
the role of Word Sense Disambiguation, Multilingual Language Resources
and large-scale Knowledge Acquisition in view of concrete application
perspectives. Papers are invited that are concerned with topics in
these areas, including, but not limited to, the following:
* Knowledge Representation and Integration
- Integration of ontologies and linguistic resources
- Representing and integrating multilingual linguistic information
* Knowledge Acquisition
- Large-scale acquisition of linguistic information
- Web-based techniques for knowledge acquisition
* Word Sense Disambiguation
- New approaches to WSD, including the use of new resources and
bootstrapping techniques
- Use of parallel corpora for word sense disambiguation
* Application perspectives
- applications of word sense disambiguation techniques (e.g. cross
language information retrieval, question answering, machine
translation, summarization)
- applications in the Semantic Web field

Submission formats
------------------
Submissions are invited for a limited number of oral presentations and
for posters. Paper submission templates for both Latex and Word
areavailable at the workshop website. Submissions should not exceed
6 pages in length and should be sent, pdf file, to Bernardo Magnini
(magnini at itc.it) by October 25th. Besides the workshop Proceedings,
we also aim at publishing a selection of accepted papers in book form
after the workshop.
Venue
------
The workshop will be held in Trento, at Fondazione Caritro, Via
Calepina 1, in the historical center of the town.
